Poor Posture

Poor Posture

Since their formation in mid 2005, practicing in a modest home near Excelsior MN, Poor Posture relocated to the big city of Minneapolis in order to reach a greater audience. Their premiere performances were met with mixed reviews from the new older, more fashionable audience. They did however get a certain level of acclaim from the drummer of a touring band one night at Big V's when he approached [pp] front man Griffin Gau and said "Hey you guys were alright, we see alot of shitty punk bands. Do you like Screeching Weasel?" With this comparison fueling their ego tanks the trio of young suburban punks took their act on the road to a city called Saint Cloud, about an hour north of Minneapolis to partake in the 666 music festival, an all ages punk-a-thon held at Cheap Thrills thrift store/ venue. For the first time in their short career they were met with circle pits and swinging from the ceiling from high school aged punk rockers. On returning to Minneapolis with a new perspective and lease on life it was [pp] mania! Playing a non stop barrage of shows at venues such as Big V's, Club underground, the Red Sea, the Pocketknife house, the triple Rock and eventually hosting their own shows at their friends house/ practice space dubbed the K-hole. This gave [pp] exposure to a lot of Mpls bands, and made the members of [pp] an incredibly hot commodity. Punk Rock Institutions such as Red Phone Dispatch, 24 reasons why, and Fixed Gears are for Jerks and Lesbians eagerly snatched up and exploited Bass player Marc Cohen for his blues inspired funky riffs. While the up and coming all female group, the Short Cuts, jumped right on drummer Annie May's spot on super fast skin hitting skills. Lead singer/ Guitar player Griffin Gau joined up with the folky DIY art kids of a Paper Cup band and formed his solo project, Frederickson. Over 2 years later Poor Posture now lays low key in South East Minneapolis at their own house/ venue Zombie House coming out to play shows when they are not too busy with the other obligations of being super rad. They have yet to release a record. -Jenny Jizzelton the sun sailor
